Course Description

Recording 1: Professor Angela Dew presented research conducted in NSW and Victoria since 2018 to understand these experiences and to develop resources to better support people with disability. This research highlighted the barriers family members experienced trying to access disability-related supports for their family members with disability; the challenges practitioners faced in providing supports; and the lack of awareness of community leaders to disability among their members. Recording 2: Rachelle Coe, STARTTS’ School Liaison Team Leader, demonstrated STARTTS’ work with a case study of one of her clients, who presented with disability. This child, in addition to individual counselling, required a holistic approach responding to the client’s complex needs and support to their family in navigating disability services.
